Why 'Life in the freezer' you might ask? Well, one summer years ago, we were visiting relatives in south-central Queensland. That means about 40 deg. C in the shade. Plus. When my then-young nephew Matthew asked how cold it got in Oslo in the winter, and I said 'down to about -25 deg. C', he walked across to the freezer which was set at -15 deg., opened it, had a look at the frosty contents, shook his head and walked out into the sun, unbelieving.

But we survive here. It's worse further north and in other parts of the world, and they survive too. But it's by no means ideal for someone who grew up with four-week winters and a temperature range of (+)5 to 35 deg. C. And sandy beaches and sunshine all year. 'Life in the freezer' explains it pretty well ...
